CPC 1.03 problem

Had an odd problem with my register console this week. The console is still functioning but not working right.... Any ideas or suggestions welcome.

I had just keyed in a set of plates, hung them, and when I returned to the console, no keys or LED's were lit (except the power LED), no matter which button I hit. I turned the console off with the key, waited 10 secs, turned back on. The power LED was on but nothing else would come on no matter which buttons I hit. I rebooted the press and console.

Everything works, but I can't select a unit by the color button (KCMY) instead I could only select a unit by unit number. If nothing is done on the console for aprox 15 min, all the led's on the screen go off, but come back on when you push a button (almost like it has a screen saver!). Also, there is a key (24) that randomly moves it self up alot. At first I thought this was the work of a faulty button, but I noticed that when key 24 randomly moves itself, it moves itself to the exact same spot on all units, hardly the work of a bad button.

The console is working, but if something is going wrong, I'd rather deal with it before it dies completely.

Ricoh C900s need help, please

Hi guys,I have a trouble, our machine run normal until I switch SP5807 from N/A to EU, so error "fusing unit is not set correctly" appear, when I switch SP5807 back to N/A the error disappear but fusing lamps is off, so my machine is not warming up. Please help me.Thank in advance.

clean out unit on supra a75

I have a supra setter and use chem free 101 plates. the clean out unit is starting to leave a little residue on the plates down one side. the rollers appear to be spring loaded but is there some adjustment to this pressure. or is it time to get new rollers or just a good scrubbing.

Viscosity of Aqueous Coatings

Dear all,

I'm looking for a conversion sheet, or at least a formula, and I was hoping one of you might have it.

- Need to convert viscosity readings from a Zahn 4 to a Zahn 3 cup. (I have a recommended viscosity with a Zahn 4 but need to convert it to a 3).
- Need to know how much viscosity should be expected to change with temperature differences using a Zahn 3 (for example, a 17-19 second coating at 75 degrees. What does that translate to at 85 degrees?)

Food Safe Digital Printing on Xerox 700

A customer in the UK wants to create a wrapper for individual chocolates like the ones you get with After Eight Mints.

I've sourced a 'Food Safe' paper which is a 90gsm Silk, but does anyone know if its safe to print these on my Xerox 700 or would they have to been printed litho using food safe inks.

I don't have the full specification as yet but I'm just covering all areas because the chocolates may be in contact with printed areas of the wrapper.

Magnus 400 Laser Diodes go crazy

Dear Forum,

i have a problem with the laser diodes in my Magnus 400 or - to be precise - with the software controlling them.

Once a day (or twice) the Software notices 1-4 diodes not valid (diode 12, 20, 16, 18). After resetting these diodes and rebooting the machine everything may work fine to a certain time.

The values of the diodes are around 480-500 mA the whole day. When the diodes are reported bad, all diodes use approximately 150 mA more and 1-4 are above 767 mA and invalid. After resetting the diodes it's possible that they work fine or that you have to wait 1-2 minutes until they work again. There is no scheme to be seen.

I cleaned the small calibration window four or five times last week to make sure there is no dust on it.

I called Kodak once and a technician resetted the diodes from the registry via VNC. That seemed to be more efficient as the software didn't report an error for a month or two. He also said that the diodes are not really broken.

If anybody here knows how to reset the diodes from the registry or another way to avoid these creepy messages i would be very thankful for any advice.

PMS 280: conversion to CMYK

Hello all:
I need one of you experts to help me with this:
My client supplied me with a file in which he wanted to print PMS 280 in CMYK equivelent. The file was created by HIS designer. The 280 portion of the job printed way to dark - almost black. the values supplied in the file were:
100C 94M 28Y 23K
which I believe was obtained from InDesign.
It seems that there are many different CMYK combinations for PMS 280 - it depends where you look (Quark, Illustrator, Pantone Colour Bridge, etc). How do you know which is going to print proerly?
Now the client is asking for my advice as to a more accurate conversion for 280.
I would appreciate some direction because I don't know what to tell him.
All future jobs will be printed on coated stock, mostly Silk text or cover. All will be printed sheet fed offset.

Folder Mapping

We just switched our Server/Nexus RIP PC to a New Mac Pro Server/Rip 10.1
In our Artpro applications, under picture menu, folder mapping, we used to have F:Jobs Raid1:Jobs to tell apps to look for links there.
Now we have a Mac Server/Nexus rip and I do not know how to direct applications to go here for links.
Anyone running a Mac for their server and Nexus RIP?
What is in your folder mapping?

Looking for Xerox MicroText (or comparable) printing services in the US

Hi. I'm looking for a company that can provide me with Xerox MicroText printing services.

I had a company helping me until they recently closed their print division. Basically, I would sent them text content and they printed it using FreeFlow and MicroText to a few different types of papers. There were some other specs to the jobs but in general I think it was fairly basic for them.

My application is a bit different than the usual use for MicroText. I'm happy to provide more details offline, if that's ok.

I'm located in Albuquerque NM but am open to working with a firm located anywhere in the US.
