HELP!!!Laser settings on PressTek Dimension 400 using Agfa Azura plates

Looking for some insight on the laser settings. We are having trouble with stability and the current settings have been played with by many people. Also may need to replace some lasers, is there any other source besides PressTek?
Questions:

what are the factory settings compared to the media settings?

how do I know if I am focused correctly?

Someone wrote in marker inside the unit- "sun glass lens"......does this change the wavelength to work on the Azura plates?

I read on some older threads that the power required for Azura plates are far less than the original Anthem....why are my power settings so high? Almost half of them are maxed out or close to it.

Any kind of help would be much appreciated.

gripper change in pdf file..

Hi

Which is the easiest way to change the customer set pdf with gripper ...

For eg customer gave the imposed file with 50mm gripper from cut mark.. we need to change that into 60mm

we will place the pdf (20 forms) each manually (20 times) in third party software/ illustrator and move the gripper as required then output for plate...

we tried with preps but measuring from cutmark and alignment position takes more time any advise from experts pls...

Hi everybody, somebody know the name or the company that produce chemicals to clean the rollers of processors for Siver, Photopolymer and Thermal plates? I know Kodak has a product for thermal processor, but I do not find any reference in his web site.

I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem.
At the moment I am printing 5 colour .jlt files to press created from Quark 6.5 using Yours Truly. I'm tying to upgrade this part of the process to Indesign CS6 using Smartstream 6.1 but have run into a problem.
The 5th colour used is white as we are reverse printing onto plastic, the colour is defined as 5Indigo which is recognised by the rip / press as white. Using Smartstream / Indesign the colour is not arriving at press as white.
Not sure if this is a problem with my print settings in Indesign that is converting spot colours to process or if when using the Smartstream I need a different name for the white. Anybody else printing white?

LOTEM 800 drum home position

Hello
After moving LOTEM CTP to another room in our factory I have a problem:
After start drum made a few spins, and stopped.
Service said the encoder can be damaged so we replaced it.
After changing an encoder problem still exists.
I've made few sensor tests and they were OK
Main problem was in drum servo. It spins only in one direction so i've replaced drum's control unit from another LOTEM (I have one as a spare part), and drum started to move in both directions.
Now it's the main problem:
After changing an encoder i've lost "home position" of the drum.
Anybody know the procedure to set it?

Frequently cleaning impression cylinder after every 2000 sheets

Sheet offset press:
After every 2000 sheets we are cleaning the impression cylinder while printing backside of the sheet, for which front side is printed 2 days before. Problem is occured from last one week.
Paper used was 70 gsm uncoated maplitho paper.
Is there any relation of ink drying with respect to time?
Why this is so.
Suggest me remedy for the same.

We are currently running a Konica Minolta C6000 & C8000. The service has been horrible and we are looking into other options. I've seen some good things about the nexpress and wanted to get some opinions from operators... Hows the up time on this machine? Right now down time is killing us on the C8000. Anyone running 10pt-16pt mostly? That's what most of our runs consist of. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

CMYK to CMYK conversions? Best Plug-In? Best way to lower TAC?

What do you feel is the best way to lower the TAC of a CMYK image while maintaining all layers and adjustment layers? For arguments sake, let's say you are unable to lower the TAC with a selective color adjustment, or any other adjustment. How would you go about doing it?

Are there plug-ins that allow CMYK - CMYK conversions?

I often go CMYK–LAB–CMYK to achieve this, but the end result is a flattened file.

indesign constant crashing

Using Indesign CS6. I always seem to have this trouble when trying to print a data merged file. I have about 900 names and address, imposed it 2 up on a 12 x 18 sheet in indesign. Now when I go to print, it constantly crashes. I tried exporting the whole thing as a PDF, same thing. Same thing for making a PS file as well. Unless I go and send only 30 pages at a time, there seems to be nothing I can do to do this easily and efficiently. This is on a Retina MacBook Pro with 16 gigs of ram. I have had a few times this message pop up "out of memory" or something to that effect. I am assuming Indesign cannot use all 16 gigs. Any work arounds or am I stuck going 30 pages or so at a time?

Lotem 400v very often load 0.15 plates with small diagonal errors in gripper

Hi guys

problem with Lotem 400v - 2001, manual loading. After all there is often small diagonal errors (something like 0.5mm - 1 mm) when working with 0.15 plates. Any idea where to look? In loading system? In gripper rollers? Anywhere else?
With 0.3 plates there was no errors at all.
