Screen PT-R4300S Error. E41f4: Servo Pack is illegal
Hello all. I would like you to help me with this issue.
When I try to print at 1000RPM the CTP load the plate normally, then it performs the measurement, but when it starts to print the drum run normal but few seconds later it descends the speed and presets this error:
E41f4: Servo Pack is illegal
So I adjusted the belt, then I changed the setting of the plate to using it with 500RPM instead of 1000, and the plate was printed good but when the CTP tried to stop, it couldn't do it, and it presented this error:
E0183: Drum cannot be stopped when rotating at high-speed
Then I accessed the Service/ DRUM TEST/ FAST and I performed tests at 150, 200 and 300 RPM. The 150 test worked fine and the drum was stopped well, same as 200RPM, but the 300 RPM runs at the right speed but when I tried to stop the drum, it continues rotating and few seconds later it presented this error.
I would like to know what is the device or component which manage the breaking system, which is controlled by the servo motor.
Someone has an idea?
Thanks in advance.
Tony

DUPLO PUR Binding Issues, help me! Before i lose all my hair
We have a DUPLO PUR Binder (DPB 500 PUR).
We use the binder to perfect bind inners for hardcover photo books, here is the problem we have, i'm hoping someone has had the same issues and found a workaround: I can't seem to get any kind of reliability out of the machine.
We purge the PUR glue, ready for its first book, we're binding 13 sheets of 200gsm with the end papers, so its not the thickest book in the world.
We first put a few thick blocks of waste thought to get the glue going.
When we put our job into be bound (the thinner block) then no glue gets onto the spine to bind, we get a small lump at the start of the spine, but then nothing else.
Now i'm thinking when the nozzle closes up to bind the smaller block we may have some dried glue and thats stopping the glue from getting out, but...
If i manually purge the glue, same width of slot closure then the glue pumps out fine.
If i got to bind my smaller book block then nothing comes out :-(
If we put a thick book block on, then the glue comes out no problem.
We have the glue pressure set to maximum (pressure thats forcing the glue out)
At the moment, we're having to bind together multiple book blocks with their endpapers, separated by sheets, which when the glue hardens we then have to separate out, this separation process is proving tricky and we're losing quite a few book blocks, which cost a fortune!
So before all my hair falls out, i'd really appreciate some advice.
Regards
Tim

Wanna be a web designer
Hi everybody.
I've been in the commercial art/printing field and doing graphic design and prepress for a gazillion years...ok, only 30+ - but I'd really like to try building websites. I can't afford Dreamweaver and am wondering if anyone knows of a good WYSIWYG web building software that is hopefully free or at least with a free demo that in the end is affordable.
One forum mentioned Microsoft Expression Web 4, which is a free download. I guess the deal is that most graphic design jobs anymore require some bit of web work, and I could lie about that on my resume, but can't talk the talk or walk the walk. I'd like to up my income a bit by adding this skill so I could apply to more positions, but I'm a hands-on kinda gal - that's how I learn best and after all these years can learn a new program pretty darned fast.
I have both a Mac and a PC at home, so something for either would be fine. Actually, I'd love a pirated version of Dreamweaver since that's what most companies are using, but alas, my conscious won't allow me (plus I can't find one).
Any ideas? How have you upgraded your skillset? And please don't suggest one of those seminars - I've done those and unless you can get back to your own computer and utilize what they've taught immediately, it's useless.
Thanks fellow PrintPlanet-ers.

DITR Film on trendsetter
Hello,
I am using a trendsetter 800 from 3 years. Now I want to try to expose Ditr film on the trendsetter.
I have tried once but the film didn't look very good. The coated side of the film didn't look clear enough. I have compared it with films exposed to Imagesetter.
Is it normal for this kind of film?
Has to create a new process template on prinergy regarding only to this film or just a simple template with film specification like I usually do with plates?
Are there specification how to use this film?

Guillotine pressure and few sorts of paper, help needed..
Hey guys,
We do own a hydraulic EBA guillotine with an adjustable pressure - we use few sorts of paper on the digital: is there any list of recommendations how to adjust the pressure on the guillotine for the kinds of paper? Like different weight, etc.?
When you cut few kinds of paper, starting from 90gsm to 300 gsm, glossy, silk, etc., it is not good to use the same pressure? It must be adjusted, so I have been told. Maybe that is the reason the machine cuts worse and worse, the service tells nothing..
Maybe You guys have some ideas or recommendations? Would be helpful.. a lot:)
Could You mail me on mvdesign@me.com?
Would appreciate..

best VDP solution?
We used to outsource our variable data, but we have been starting to do it in house. Not huge runs or anything, but its a start. Currently I am using Indesign to prepare it, then impose and it and print digital. Its by no means a fast and efficient process, sometimes taking hours to get ready to print.
What is the best way to do this? Something built into a xerox that can do it, or a stand alone program to run (Mac based).
Its pretty simple stuff we are doing right now, so don't need all the bells and whistles. Basic data merge for mailers, so addresses.
Thanks

AB Dick 9800 series/Ryobi 3200/Itek 975 question
Hi all,
I run a small inplant print shop for a school. Currently, I have an ABDick 360 with an older style t-head and an AB Dick 9865 - 1 color. Both have standard dampening. The work I run is generally spot color to create our school's letterhead, business cards, envelopes, ncr, etc. I've been given a budget to replace the 9865 with another used machine. My first thought was to look for a newer model 9800 series AB Dick with T-head and Kompac or Crestline dampening. But after reading through several threads on this forum, I'm wondering if I should consider a Ryobi 3200/Itek 975. I guess I'm asking two questions: Is the Ryobi/Itek a better all around machine? And If I do go with the Itek or Ryobi, would the learning curve be steep or with my current knowledge running the AB Dicks, would the transition be somewhat easy?
Thanks for your input,
Tom H.

Can this be done!?
Hey all, I'd like to promote my business by buying blank packs / cartons of cigarette rolling papers and printing my logos / business info on them. Can you recommend a printer that I would be able to put a pack full (unfolded and on the back of course). If you could figure out a solution to print more than one at a time with some kind of jig that would be even better! Thanks everyone! The MOQ's for these are outrageous and I don't want 10,000... but 500 would be great!

Image (Lines) not sharp @ plate & Printing
Hi
Pls find attached image which has very fine thin lines with vignette effect filled with strokes.. (Illustrator File)
When we output this file for plate @ 175 / 200 / 150 lpi screen ruling this image got broken / pixelleted / not smooth / not sharp as per the image...
When we output the same with other service company the image looks sharper and fine no break at all exactly comes as per the file..
We used kodak plates with lotem 48 diode... Other service company has Heidelberg ...
Is the problem related to file or plate ???
Hope If its the file problem then the other service company will also face the same problem ??
Need anyone advice to sort out this issue..

Agfa Palladio 24V Reg. error
Since the power went out last week, I can't get past this error message on the console. Previously years past when the message would infrequently occur, I would just turn the unit off and then on again. Seems like a permanent thing now. Is the power supply cooked, and can I replace?
